News from the pool deck

A massive week at TSS with the 50m pool renovations underway – our trades were onsite bright and early Monday morning.

Works are underway on the tiles and increasing the depth, then it’s a new filtration system!

The swimmers have watched in awe – not very often you get to see a pool of size of ours with no water in it..

A huge commitment by The Southport School to the sport we love the most , we cannot wait to see you getting the benefit of this investment.
In the meantime, our 25m pool is buzzing with activity, with our Coaches both onsite and offsite training with our squads.

We are planning to celebrate the reopening when completed and look forward giving you details on this as we get nearer.

Australian National School Sport Championships

What a week our Swimmers have had competing at the National School Sport Championships!

Our Swimmers were:
Danny Baxter, Alyssa Jacklin, Sarah Kalogeropoulos, MJ Lowe, Sara McCarthy, Bianca Rayward and Hudson Sheehan.

Plenty of excitement and action across the Meet at Chandler, getting the touch in some fingernail finishes!

Friday was a rest day with a Team activity (at Dreamworld!) with the Senior School Swimmers concluding with more relays on the Saturday.

Congratulations to Sarah Kalogeropoulos and Danny Baxter who competed in the 10-12yrs competition over these last 3 days. This was a first experience at this level for both Swimmers and they acquitted themselves excellently – both making finals, racing confidently and aggressively.
Danny placing 5th in both the 12yrs 200IM and 100m Butterfly
Sarah placing 8th in the 11yrs 200IM and 9th in the 11yrs 100m Backstroke
Well done to you both!

A great result and exciting competition for all our Swimmers, top ten results (not including top 3’s) = 14 events!

Well done to you all and thank you to our wonderful parents for supporting and braving the M1 each day.
