Day 3 of the National Short Course Championships was a gold rush for TSS.

Maddy Gough and Josh Parrish won gold medals in the women's and men's 1500m freestyle.  Laura Taylor won the womens 200m butterfly by over 4 seconds, David Morgan dug in deep to win the men's 100m butterfly, Cameron McEvoy secured the sprint double by winning the men's 50m Freestyle, and the Men's 4x100m Medley Relay teamed together to bring the gold medal home for TSS.

To top the night off TSS won the team competition and were named top club at the meet.  4 members have also been named as part of the World Championship Squad in December (Grayson Bell, Cameron McEvoy, Maddy Gough and Chris Nesbit).

What a great way to kickstart the 2018/2019 season!

Day 2 of the National Short Course Championships started with some great performances in the men’s 800m Freestyle, Josh Parrish went one better than last night to earn a silver medal.

Maddy Gough and Grayson Bell continued their medal winning form by collecting bronze medals in the women’s 400m freestyle, and men’s 100m breaststroke, whilst Laura Taylor collected her first podium finish of the meet with a silver medal in the women’s 100m butterfly.

Team TSS have 1 more day of racing left, with plenty of opportunities to swim fast remaining.

Day one at the Melbourne Aquatic Centre started with a bang as TSS collected 8 medals.

Madeleine McTernan won TSS’s first medal of the meet, securing bronze in the women’s 400m Freestyle MC, Maddy took over 8 seconds off her PB and proved that consistency and effort will always pay dividends. TSS oldboy Grayson Bell won the first Gold medal of the meet, winning the men’s 50m Breaststroke to become National Champion for the second year running. Grayson was determined to get his hand to the wall first and out-touched his closest competitors by 0.03s, and 0.06s.

The evening session continued in the same way with TSS swimmers taking to the podium, Josh Parrish, David Morgan and Maddy Gough took home bronze medals in the men’s 400m Freestyle, men’s 200m Butterfly, and women’s 800m Freestyle. Kiah Melverton utilised her Freestyle pedigree to fight her way through the back end of the women’s 400IM to win a silver medal and touch out the swimmer in 3rd place by just 0.02s.  TSS swimmers were still going strong at the backend of the session and finished with a pair of gold medals; the first by Cameron McEvoy in the men’s 100m Freestyle and the second by the men’s 4x100m Freestyle, (Grayson Bell, David Morgan, Josh Parrish and Cameron McEvoy).

A great start for the TSS swimmers, round 2 to commence at 10am tomorrow!
